Changing pulse

19th- 28th July, 2019.

Ai Mi Tagai, at Denchu Hirakushi House and Atelier, Tokyo, Japan.

Consisting of a series of translucent paper prints, this work is conceptually intended to challenge the ornamental function of surrounding domestic situations. In an attempt to challenge the materiality of images the work places them as establishing pieces for the space. The Denchu Hirakushi House and Atelier hold a historical sense of Japanese domestic iconography that aligns with the intention to produce an uncanny sense of space. The work’s effect is rotational, where UK domestic households are reflected in the topography of a Japanese habitat.
